OPBI of Tampa Bay Appoints New Development Director
TAMPA, Fla. (October 21, 2009) – The Ophelia Project and Boys Initiative of Tampa Bay (OPBI) announces the appointment of Deborah Rohaty Wagner as development director. Wagner, who has more than 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector, will oversee all fundraising programs at OPBI.
Prior to joining OPBI, Wagner served as the associate director of development for the Tampa Bay History Center (TBHC). At TBHC, Wagner was responsible for the membership program and supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts. Additional non-profit work includes director of development for Habitat for Humanity Sarasota and executive director of the Van Wezel Foundation.
“Deborah’s achievements and experience within the non-profit world will be an asset to our organization,” said Robin Rose, executive director of OPBI. “We are delighted to have her as a part of our team and look forward to her future contributions within the community.”
Wagner is a graduate of the Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club. Wagner received her B.A. from Pennsylvania State University and her MBA from the University of South Florida.

The Ophelia Project and Boys Initiative (OPBI) is a non-profit organization, which began in 2002, dedicated to promoting a safe culture for the healthy social and emotional development of girls and boys. The Ophelia Project has developed four areas of expertise for girls: bullying and violence prevention, self-esteem and peer relationships, leadership and girls’ health. OPBI expanded the organization in 2006 to include The Boys Initiative that serves boys’ needs for positive relationships, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces for social and emotional growth.
