UNIVERSITY PARK – Sam Chen and Lily Ren will open the doors to the third location of Kumo Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Restaurant on December 10. A grand celebration co-hosted by Benderson Development will include a formal ribbon cutting, photo opportunities and menu tasting. Invited guests include commissioners from Manatee and Sarasota counties, members from both Chambers of Commerce and individuals from neighboring communities.

Inspired by authentic Japanese cuisine and locally grown ingredients, Kumo offers an extensive array of menu items ranging from hibachi grill table-side cooking, delectable sushi and sashimi creations, various noodle bowl and fried tempura selections and bento-box styled meals.

The restaurant features a vibrant atmosphere made from elegant wood and stone decor, and includes a separate dining area for private parties. The main dining room is a cozy setting for intimacy and exclusivity. Located at the corner of University Parkway and Honore Avenue, Kumo is ideally situated to serve guests from Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, Bradenton and areas beyond.

Kumo will operate Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for lunch and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for dinner with an additional evening hour on weekends. On Sunday the restaurant opens for dinner starting at 4:00 p.m. Kumo will be open to the public immediately after the grand celebration.

Kumo Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Restaurant was created by Sam Chen and his parents in Cape Coral in 2004. With his wife, Lily Ren, a second location opened in Venice in 2007. University Park marks the third and largest location for Chen and his family. Kumo is a popular neighborhood restaurant, known to locals as an ideal place for fresh sushi, entertaining table-side cooking and budget friendly prices in a warm, family-friendly environment.
